A Vibrant Low Energy Future for Helston and District

What's New?

OWL Monitors Now Available

OWL Monitors

Transition Helston are pleased to announce the start of a loan service for OWL electricity monitors. These monitors clip around your incoming mains cable and provide an instant display showing how much electricity you are using.

Find out where you are wasting electricity (and money!) and save money and reduce your carbon footprint. Monitors are available from the Guildhall free of charge for a two week period. The monitors are a join initiative by Helston Town Council and Transition Helston and with financial backing from Cornwall Council.

In this photo John Boase, Helston Town Mayor, presents the first monitor to Rob McLeod of Helston in the presence of Vicky Matthews (left, Deputy Mayor and Transition Helston Member) and Kathy Doeser from Transition Helston's Energy Group (right).

What are we about?

Transition Helston is a new, voluntary initiative set up to work within Helston and district to engage all sectors of our community in dealing with the twin challenges of Peak Oil and Climate Change These problems suggest a low energy future for all of us and we will need a resilient, capable community to deal with what lies ahead.
As a first step towards achieving this we are embarking on a programme of awareness rasiing, helping people to find out more about these problems. This process will also involve getting people to talk to one another and to start building social networks. We will be showing films and inviting speakers.
Interest Groups have started to formwith Food and Energy Groups actively underway. See their own pages for details of project activities.

Joining Transition Helston is free and easy, just email John at info@transitionhelston.org.uk
